Our vendor shreds logs and adds food-safe dye for the most natural (I know) approach to a brick red mulch . Care must be taken as a wet pile may stain some paved surfaces.
The long lasting color of food-safe dye keeps this mulch looking good all season.
If you are new to dyed mulch, be prepared to add just enough each year to keep the color looking good. The downside of the bright color is that the contrast between sparse mulch and the soil is more pronounced.
